Interlude 1 | Which Table Will You Eat From? Proverbs 9 and the War Between Wisdom and Folly
Bible Study | Ecclesiastes Wilderness Series
This is the perfect place to pause, reflect, and let the Spirit search our hearts before continuing into the deeper prophetic themes—and asks the question: Which Table Will You Eat From?
INTRODUCTION
There are two tables.
Two voices.
Two houses.
And every soul must choose where they will eat.
“Wisdom has built her house; she has hewn her seven pillars… she has prepared her meat, she has mixed her wine… she has sent out her young women.”
— Mishlĕ (Proverbs) 9:1–3, TSR2009
“The woman Folly is loud… she sits at the door of her house… calling to those who go straight on their way.”
— Proverbs 9:13–15
This is not poetic tension—
This is a spiritual war.
And the tragedy is that many today are eating at both tables, not realizing that one leads to life… and the other to She’ol.
The Call of Wisdom
Wisdom prepares a table:
Set in righteousness
Built on seven pillars
Meant to feed the simple and give them life
“Come, eat of my bread and drink of the wine I have mixed. Leave the simple ones and live, and walk in the way of understanding.”
— Proverbs 9:5–6
This is the voice of the Ruach calling to the Bride.
The wilderness cry that prepares the way for Yahweh.
Wisdom is prophetic, clear, set-apart, holy.
She calls not with flattery, but with fire.
She invites not with indulgence, but with transformation.
The Call of Folly
Folly doesn’t demand holiness—
She demands nothing.
And that’s the danger.
“Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.”
— Proverbs 9:17
She offers pleasure without purpose.
She whispers half-truths from high places.
She mimics the call of Wisdom—but her end is death.
“But he does not know that the dead are there, her guests are in the depths of She’ol.”
— Proverbs 9:18
Let that sink in.
Folly doesn’t just lead to bad decisions—
She leads people to dine with the dead.
This is spiritual adultery. This is mixture.
This is what Solomon fell into.

Ecclesiastes: The Voice of a Man Who Sat at Both Tables
“I applied my heart to know wisdom and to know madness and folly…”
— Ecclesiastes 1:17
Solomon wrote both Proverbs and Ecclesiastes.
But by the time he penned Ecclesiastes, he was no longer eating at Wisdom’s table alone.
He had built altars to false gods.
He had taken wives from forbidden nations.
He had begun entertaining the teachings of fallen elohim—Yahweh’s enemies.
And so his wisdom decayed into wandering.
“I hated life… for all is vanity and striving after wind.”
— Ecclesiastes 2:17
His fire had gone out.
His clarity was gone.
Because he had mixed what was holy with what was demonic.
And Yahweh will not share His table.
Today’s Church Is Sitting at the Wrong Table
Wisdom calls for repentance.
Folly offers affirmation.Wisdom demands the fear of Yahweh.
Folly says “You’re enough.”Wisdom rebukes sin.
Folly rebrands it as “identity.”Wisdom cries out from the wilderness.
Folly sings from the stage.
Many pulpits today are built in the name of Jesus but serve the bread of Folly.
They preach grace without obedience.
Hope without holiness.
Comfort without consecration.
And they feed the Bride from the wrong table.
The Question the Spirit Is Asking Now
Which table will you eat from?
Will you eat the bread of repentance, the wine of wisdom, and walk the narrow way?
Or will you sneak into Folly’s house and take what seems sweet… but leads to She’ol?
ROOTED IN THE WORD
“The fear of יהוה is the beginning of wisdom.” — Proverbs 9:10
“He who corrects a scoffer gets shame… but reprove a wise one, and he loves you.” — Proverbs 9:7–8
“He who walks with the wise becomes wise, but a companion of fools suffers evil.” — Proverbs 13:20
“You cannot partake of the table of the Master and the table of demons.” — 1 Corinthians 10:21
“Come out of her, My people.” — Revelation 18:4
GRACE METHOD Reflection
G – Grounded in Scripture
Proverbs 9, Ecclesiastes 1–2, 1 Corinthians 10, Revelation 18
R – Reflecting on Context
Solomon’s voice in Proverbs was clear. But in Ecclesiastes, his tone changed. He had stopped eating from Wisdom’s table. This post is not just about choosing well—it’s about repenting if we’ve already sat at the wrong table.
A – Applying to Your Life
Have I eaten from the world’s wisdom? Have I tolerated false teaching, emotionalism, or feel-good Christianity? Have I sought the sweetness of stolen water instead of the fear of Yahweh?
C – Communing with God
Father, show me where I’ve eaten what isn’t from You. Cleanse my spiritual appetite. Teach me to crave holiness more than comfort. Prepare me for Your table alone.
E – Exalting God
Yahweh, You are the Bread of Life. Yahushua, Your table is pure. I exalt You as the only Teacher, the only Wisdom, the only Truth. Let me feast on what is holy.
PERSONAL DECLARATION
I renounce the table of Folly.
I will not eat what demons offer.
I will not call sweet what You call sin.
I choose Wisdom. I choose Yahweh.
I choose the wilderness cry that prepares the way.
I will eat only what is clean. I will drink the wine of truth.
In Yahushua’s Name, Amein.

Many are starving and don’t know it.
They’ve eaten spiritual junk food for years—and their fire has gone out.
