Interlude 1.2: Wisdom Is Not Vanity – How the Enemy Twists Yahweh’s Gifts into Shame

This reflection dismantles the lie that wisdom is a burden. It reclaims Yahweh’s gift from the grip of shame and invites readers to honor what He has spoken over them.

INTRODUCTION

Solomon looked at the world and sighed:

“The wise dies just like the fool… the same event happens to all.” — Ecclesiastes 2:14–15 (paraphrased)

And for generations, many agreed.

But was he right?

Yahushua tells a different story—one of eternal life, resurrection, and separation between those who sleep and those who die forever. This is not a small difference. This is a Gospel-sized gap.

And it matters eternally.

Qoheleth Said: Death Is the End for Everyone

“Then I saw that wisdom is better than folly… Yet I perceived that the same event happens to all of them.”
— Ecclesiastes 2:13–14

Solomon saw the grave and assumed it swallowed all the same. Wise or foolish. Righteous or wicked. He called it all hevel—vanity, vapor, meaningless.

But Solomon was looking under the sun.
He was walking in darkness.
He had stopped listening to the Spirit of Truth.

Yahushua Said: Death Is Not the End

“Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone guards My Word he shall never see death at all.”
— Yoḥanan (John) 8:51, TSR2009

“Everyone living and believing in Me shall never die at all. Do you believe this?”
— Yoḥanan (John) 11:26

“This is the bread which comes down out of the heaven, so that anyone might eat of it, and not die.”
— Yoḥanan (John) 6:50

Yahushua made it clear:

  • There is a death that ends all hope.

  • And there is a death that is only sleep for those in Him.

  • There is eternal separation and eternal life—and no, the same event does not happen to all.

Solomon Saw the Grave. Yahushua Preached the Resurrection.

Qoheleth’s vision was clouded by disobedience. He did not yet see Messiah.
But Yahushua is the resurrection and the life. He came to destroy the lie that “all ends in death.”

“The hour is coming in which all those in the tombs shall hear His voice, and shall come forth – those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have practiced evil matters, to a resurrection of judgment.”
— Yoḥanan (John) 5:28–29

There are two outcomes. Two eternal destinations.
The end is not the same for all.

ROOTED IN THE WORD

Qoheleth (Solomon)Yahushua (Truth)“Same event happens to all.”“He who believes in Me shall never die.”“The wise dies like the fool.”“Resurrection of life… or judgment.”“All is vanity.”“I came that they may have life.”Grave is the end.“In My Father’s house are many rooms.”

G – Grounded in Scripture

  • Read Ecclesiastes 2:13–15

  • Alongside John 11:25–26

  • And John 5:28–29

Solomon writes from a limited, earthly perspective—seeing that both the wise and the foolish die and questioning the value of wisdom.

But Yahushua speaks from eternity: “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me shall live, even if he dies.” (John 11:25–26)

He promises a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous (John 5:28–29), revealing that the grave is not the end—it is a doorway.

R – Reflecting on Context

Solomon’s words reflect the despair of a man who had lost his way. He had been given divine wisdom, but he allowed idolatry and indulgence to erode his perspective. In contrast, Yahushua’s words come with authority from Heaven, cutting through confusion and revealing the truth of eternal life.

A – Applying to Your Life

  • Have I believed the lie that life is meaningless?

  • Do I live as though the grave is the final word—or as though the resurrection is real and promised?

  • What would change if I truly lived in light of eternity?

C – Communing with God

Yahweh, teach me to see life through Your eyes. Remove every belief that does not align with Yahushua. Let Your truth define my view of life, death, and resurrection. Give me clarity of eternity and the boldness to live for what is eternal, in Yahushua’s name, Amen + Amen!

E – Exalting God

Thank You, Yahweh, for defeating death. Thank You for separating light from darkness, truth from despair. I choose to follow the voice of the Shepherd, not the voice of confusion. You are the resurrection and the life, and I place my trust in You alone, in Yahushua’s name, Amen + Amen!

PERSONAL DECLARATION

I reject the lie that all things end in death.
I believe in the resurrection of the righteous.
I believe Yahushua is the Life, the Truth, and the Way.
I will not follow the shadow of Solomon, but the light of the King.
In Yahushua’s Name, Amen + Amen!
