Part 10: The Spirit of Elijah – Tearing Down the High Places Again

A direct response to Solomon’s legacy of idol-building. This post confronts spiritual tolerance and calls the Bride to walk in the fearless, altar-restoring spirit of Elijah.

INTRODUCTION

By the time Solomon wrote Ecclesiastes, the fire had gone out.

He had once seen the glory of Yahweh fill the Temple.
He had once watched fire fall from heaven.
He had once heard Yahweh speak in the night.

But now?
He stares into the dust and says:

“All is vanity and a striving after wind.” — Ecclesiastes 1:14

This is not wisdom—it’s what happens when the altar has been defiled, the Word has been compromised, and no one has the courage to tear down the high places.

That is why Yahweh sends Elijah.

Solomon Built Altars for Yahweh’s Enemies

“Then Shelomoh built a high place for Kemosh… and for Moleḵ… and so he did for all his foreign wives.”
— 1 Kings 11:7–8

The one who built Yahweh’s Temple also built shrines to demons.

  • Molech—the god of child sacrifice

  • Ashtoreth—the seductive queen of heaven

  • Chemosh and Baal—gods of war, sun worship, and death

Solomon didn’t reject Yahweh outright—
He simply allowed other elohim to coexist with Him.

This is the exact mixture Yahweh hates.

And by the time we reach Ecclesiastes, the consequence of this idolatry is clear:

“I gave my heart to know wisdom and to know madness and folly… but I perceived this also is striving after wind.”
— Ecclesiastes 1:17

He was trying to understand both wisdom and madness.
And in the process… he lost the fire.

Ecclesiastes Is the Voice of a Prophet Who Forgot His Altar

Where Solomon should have rebuked idolatry, he reasoned with it.

Where he should have torn down high places, he built them.

Where he once carried Yahweh’s presence… now he carries bitterness, confusion, and spiritual dullness.

“So I hated life… because all that is done under the sun is grievous to me.”
— Ecclesiastes 2:17

This is what happens when the fear of Yahweh is traded for the favor of man.
This is what happens when holiness is replaced with philosophy.

And this is why Yahweh raises Elijah.

Elijah: The Prophetic Answer to Solomon’s Legacy

“And Ěliyahu said, ‘How long would you hop between two opinions? If יהוה is Elohim, follow Him.’”
— 1 Kings 18:21

Elijah came to confront the very mixture Solomon normalized.
To destroy the idols Solomon had legitimized.
To restore the fear Solomon had forsaken.

And the first thing Elijah did?

“He repaired the altar of יהוה that was broken down.”
— 1 Kings 18:30

Because you cannot call down fire on a defiled altar.

Where Solomon blurred the lines, Elijah drew them boldly.
Where Solomon philosophized, Elijah prophesied.
Where Solomon observed, Elijah rebuilt.

The Spirit of Elijah Is Still the Remedy Today

Yahweh is once again raising up Elijah voices—
Not smooth-talking leaders, but wilderness messengers.
Not celebrity pastors, but altar restorers.

They are being sent to the Church that quotes Proverbs but lives in Ecclesiastes.
The ones who use Solomon’s sadness to justify lukewarm living.
The ones who fear offense more than they fear Yahweh.

But the Elijah spirit cannot be silenced.

It says:

  • Enough mixture.

  • Enough compromise.

  • Enough altars to Baal inside temples built for Yahweh.

Let the fire fall again—but only on a rebuilt altar.

Elijah vs. Ecclesiastes: Two Legacies, One Choice

Ecclesiastes (Solomon) “All is vanity.”

Elijah (Prophet) “Let the fire fall!”

The question now is:
Which legacy are we carrying forward?

ROOTED IN THE WORD

“Let us hear the conclusion of the entire matter: Fear Elohim and guard His commands.” — Ecclesiastes 12:13

“You shall break down their altars… and burn their carved images with fire.” — Deuteronomy 7:5

“You cannot drink the cup of the Master and the cup of demons.” — 1 Corinthians 10:21

“See, I am sending you Ěliyahu the prophet before the coming of the great and awesome day of יהוה.” — Malachi 4:5

“And he makes His servants flames of fire.” — Psalm 104:4

G – Grounded in Scripture

Ecclesiastes 1–2, 12; 1 Kings 11 & 18; Malachi 4; Deuteronomy 7

R – Reflecting on Context

Solomon’s descent into spiritual numbness created a national pattern of mixture. Yahweh’s answer was Elijah—one voice, fully devoted, who dared to confront what everyone else ignored.

A – Applying to Your Life

Are there “high places” in my heart I’ve justified? Have I tried to understand both truth and folly, instead of rejecting evil outright? Am I willing to walk in the spirit of Elijah?

C – Communing with God

Yahweh, forgive me for tolerating mixture. Show me every place I’ve wavered. Give me the boldness to rebuild the altar and call for fire again. Cleanse me. Use me.

E – Exalting God

I exalt You, Yahweh, as the only Elohim. You alone are worthy of worship. Let no false god remain in my life. Come and take Your rightful place on a rebuilt altar.

PERSONAL DECLARATION

I will not walk in Solomon’s confusion.
I will not call wisdom vanity or excuse mixture.
I will tear down every high place in my heart.
I will rebuild the altar of Yahweh.
I will prepare the way for the fire to fall again.
I walk in the spirit of Elijah.
In Yahushua’s Name, Amein.

SHARE YOUR FAITH

Ecclesiastes is still echoing in many hearts—
But Yahweh is raising voices like Elijah to silence the confusion with fire.

Share this post to call others out of mixture and into purity.
It’s time to rebuild the altar.
