Praying for Your Husband’s Spiritual Growth: 7 Powerful Scriptures

A Prayer

Many of us long to see our loved ones grow deeper in faith, but spiritual growth is ultimately the work of YHWH. If your husband is still on "milk" and hasn’t yet developed a hunger for deeper spiritual truths, don’t lose heart. Prayer is powerful, and Scripture gives us the perfect words to pray over him.

Here are seven powerful Bible verses and prayers you can pray over your husband to ask YHWH to awaken his hunger for truth and deepen his relationship with Him.

1. Pray for YHWH to Give Him a Hunger for Truth

Jeremiah 24:7 (ISR2009)
"And I shall give them a heart to know Me, that I am יהוה. And they shall be My people and I shall be their Elohim, for they shall turn back to Me with all their heart."

Prayer:
Father, give my husband a heart to know You deeply. Let him turn to You with his whole heart and develop a hunger for Your truth. Stir in him a desire to seek You beyond what he knows now. Let Your Spirit awaken a fire within him.

2. Pray for Spiritual Growth and Understanding

Ephesians 1:17-18 (ISR2009)
"That the Elohim of our Master יהושע Messiah, the Father of esteem, would give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened, so that you know what is the expectation of His calling."

Prayer:
Father, I pray that You give my husband the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, that he may truly know You. Open his eyes, deepen his understanding, and awaken him to the richness of Your truth. Let him grow in wisdom, and let him be drawn closer to You every day.

3. Pray for a Deep Love for YHWH’s Word

Psalm 119:33-34 (ISR2009)
"Teach me, O יהוה, the way of Your laws, and I observe it to the end. Make me understand, that I might observe Your Torah, and guard it with all my heart."

Prayer:
YHWH, put a love for Your Word in my husband’s heart. Teach him Your ways and give him understanding, so he will desire to walk in Your truth. Let him be drawn to Your Word and guard it with all his heart.

4. Pray Against Spiritual Apathy or Lukewarmness

Revelation 3:15-16 (ISR2009)
"I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I would that you were cold or hot. So, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I am going to vomit you out of My mouth."

Prayer:
Father, I pray against any spirit of lukewarmness in my husband’s life. Set his heart on fire for You! Remove any complacency and give him a deep desire to walk closely with You. Stir his spirit so he may grow and thrive in faith.

5. Pray for His Leadership as a Spiritual Head

Joshua 24:15 (ISR2009)
"But as for me and my house, we serve יהוה."

Prayer:
YHWH, I pray that You strengthen my husband to lead our home spiritually. Let him be bold in faith, seeking Your guidance in everything. Fill him with wisdom to be a leader in our marriage, family, and before You. Let him grow into the man You created him to be.

6. Pray for His Heart to Be Softened to YHWH’s Voice

Ezekiel 36:26 (ISR2009)
"And I shall give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you. And I shall take the heart of stone out of your flesh, and I shall give you a heart of flesh."

Prayer:
Father, soften my husband’s heart to hear Your voice. Remove anything that blocks him from going deeper in faith. Fill him with Your Spirit, and make his heart tender toward You. Let him respond to Your call with joy and obedience.

7. Pray for Patience and Trust in YHWH’s Timing

Philippians 1:6 (ISR2009)
"Being persuaded of this, that He who has begun a good work in you shall perfect it until the day of יהושע Messiah."

Prayer:
YHWH, I trust that You are working in my husband’s life. I release my worries and impatience to You. I know You are perfecting him in Your time. Thank You for the work You are doing in his heart.
