A Prayer for Wisdom and Humility
Father God,
You are the Source of all wisdom, and we come before You, recognizing that we can do nothing apart from You. As it is written, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives generously to all without reproach" (James 1:5). We come with open hearts, asking You for the wisdom that comes from above—pure, peaceable, gentle, and full of mercy (James 3:17).
Lord, as we grow in knowledge of You, may we never forget that true wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord (Proverbs 9:10). Let our hearts be humbly submitted to Your ways, knowing that knowledge puffs up, but love builds up (1 Corinthians 8:1). Guard us against the trap of spiritual pride, which blinds us to the reality of our need for You in every moment.
We ask that You would continually renew our minds (Romans 12:2), shaping us more and more into the image of Your Son, Jesus Christ. May we seek His example of wisdom and humility in all things, as He humbled Himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross (Philippians 2:8). Let us follow His path, remembering that the greatest among us must be a servant (Matthew 23:11).
We know that we are nothing without Your grace. So we pray that as we seek wisdom, we would also seek Your heart—a heart of compassion, kindness, and humility. May our growth in knowledge lead us to a deeper love for You and for others. Help us to see wisdom not just as an accumulation of facts, but as a life surrendered to Your will, walking in Your truth (John 8:32).
Thank You, Lord, for the wisdom You are so graciously pouring out. May it lead us closer to Jesus, who is the fullness of wisdom, and through Him, bring us into the purposes You have designed for us.
