Returning to True Wisdom: Raising Children Who See
Bible Study | Wisdom | Family
Introduction
We are watching a world grow colder with each generation, and the fruit of that chill is visible in the hearts of our children. Joy without compassion. Confidence without character. Morality without the Spirit of Yahweh. We call it innocence, but much of it is simply detachment—a learned blindness passed down through well-meaning parents who were themselves raised in broken systems.
This isn’t about parenting trends. It’s about the soul of a generation.
In a culture sprinting toward judgment, we are not called to raise happy children—we are called to raise holy ones. Not polished performers, but prophets. Not numb observers, but tender-hearted intercessors who carry the weight of truth and love with grace.
This is a call to return.
Not to tradition. Not to moralism.
But to wisdom that begins with the fear of Yahweh.
Let us open our eyes. And teach them to do the same.
1. Proverbs 9:10
“The fear of יהוה is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Set-apart One is understanding.” (ISR2009)
Wisdom doesn’t begin with intelligence—it begins with awe.
2. Deuteronomy 6:6–7
“And these Words which I am commanding you today shall be in your heart, and you shall impress them upon your children, and shall speak of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.” (ISR2009)
Discipleship is daily. Teaching is constant.
3. Isaiah 29:13–14
“This people has drawn near with its mouth, and with its lips they have esteemed Me, yet it has kept its heart far from Me... Therefore, see, I am again doing a marvelous work among this people, a marvelous work and a wonder.” (ISR2009)
Yahweh is not impressed by appearances. He wants hearts that see.
We cannot reverse the coldness of this world by teaching behavior.
We must teach presence.
The presence of Yahweh.
The presence of the poor.
The presence of pain.
And the presence of hope that isn’t man-made.
The fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil gives us rules without relationship.
It teaches us to “be good” without ever knowing the One who is good.
“And because of the increase in lawlessness, the love of many shall become cold.”
This is the world our children are growing up in—and the one we must prepare them to walk through in truth.
“And you, fathers, do not provoke your children, but bring them up in the instruction and admonition of the Master.”
True parenting is rooted in the Messiah—not in control, but in covenant.
We must return to the garden—but not to eat.
We must return to walk with Him in the cool of the day.
To teach our children to hear His voice, not just our lectures.
To teach them the weight of other people’s tears, not just the rewards of success.
This kind of parenting is not neat; but, it is the meat of the Gospel.
It requires breaking the golden calves of comfort and pride.
It means saying, “I was wrong,”
And showing them that joy and sorrow can live in the same soul.
The Call of the Remnant
We are raising children in a world that is sprinting toward judgment.
But Yahweh always has a remnant.
He always plants a holy seed in the stump.
“And a remnant shall return, the remnant of Ya‛aqoḇ, to the Mighty Ěl.”
— Isaiah 10:21 (ISR2009)
Let our homes be altars.
Let our children be weepers and watchers.
Let their joy be holy—not hollow.
Let them see—and stay soft.
GRACE Method
And Here We Find Grace…
GRACE perfectly encapsulates the transition from striving, to resting, in God's presence—which is at the heart of the message. Grace is the unmerited favor of God, and it's through His grace that we are able to move from struggle to peace. I invite you to pause and reflect on God's presence, how you can connect to God’s grace in a meaningful way.
Our GRACE Method™ is meant to encourage you so you can experience YHWH, Immanuel, and the Holy Spirit, in a deeper way, on a regular basis, through thought provoking Bible Study, Prayer, education, and Worship.
G — Grounding in Scripture
Read Proverbs 9:10.
What does it mean that true wisdom begins with the reverence of Yahweh?
R — Reflect on Context
What are you teaching your children (or those around you) without even realizing it?
What are they learning from your reactions, your comforts, your silences?
A — Apply to Your Life
Ask Yahweh to reveal where you’ve relied on moral training instead of spiritual truth.
What needs to shift in how you parent or disciple?
C — Commune with God
Father, return me to Your voice. Let me raise children who are rooted in You—not in behavior, not in approval, not in worldly success. Open their eyes. Keep their hearts soft. Teach us to see.
E — Exalt God
Worship Yahweh for His patience, His restoration, and His promise that even in a cold world, His Word does not return void.
Share Your Faith
Teach your children to see.
Not just colors and numbers—but sorrow and hope.
Not just manners—but mercy.
Not just stories—but the Living Word.
They are not here to be impressive.
They are here to be like Yahushua.
Raise prophets, not performers.
Raise servants, not celebrities.
Raise Kingdom hearts in the middle of Babylon.
And remind them: You are not here to smile at the fire. You are here to carry the water.
