Part 6: The Forerunner Fire – Traits of the Wilderness Voices
Bible Study | Ecclesiastes Wilderness Series
The drift in Solomon’s words, the tragic descent of a brilliant mind into confusion, and how this decay is now echoed in pulpits filled with cheap grace and powerless preaching.
INTRODUCTION
“I indeed immerse you in water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I… He shall immerse you in the Set-apart Spirit and fire.”
— Mattithyahu (Matthew) 3:11, TSR2009
Before Yahushua walked the shores of Galil, before He healed or raised the dead—there was a voice.
A voice in the wilderness.
Unrefined. Unapologetic. Unashamed.
But there is a voice on the other side of Scripture too—one we rarely question:
Qoheleth, the Preacher in Ecclesiastes.
Solomon, once wise… now wandering.
And we must ask ourselves honestly:
Which voice have we been listening to?
Because Solomon’s voice, though recorded in Scripture, is a voice of decay.
Of a spoiled mind, unraveling under the weight of compromise.
And unless we see it for what it is—we will confuse despair for doctrine, and disillusionment for truth.
Make it stand out
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Solomon: A Mind Once Anointed, Now Spoiled
“I applied my heart to know wisdom and to know madness and folly. I perceived that this also is but a striving after wind.”
— Qoheleth (Ecclesiastes) 1:17
This is not wisdom speaking.
This is a man who once had wisdom, now grasping in the dark, trying to make sense of life without obedience.
“What happens to the fool will happen to me also. Why then have I been so very wise?”
— Ecclesiastes 2:15
Do you hear it?
Bitterness. Disillusionment. Spiritual confusion.
Solomon is not declaring divine truth—he is confessing the despair of a drifting heart.
“I hated life… all is vanity and a striving after wind.”
— Ecclesiastes 2:17
This is what happens when wisdom is separated from fear of Yahweh.
This is what happens when the anointing is squandered on idols.
Ecclesiastes: A Mirror of a Mind Gone Bad
If we’re honest, many of us have thought like Solomon:
“What’s the point?”
“Everything ends in death.”
“No one really remembers anyone.”
“Even my hard work feels meaningless.”
But that’s not wisdom. That’s not discernment.
That’s a spoiled mind, and a cracked cistern that holds no water.
And many pastors today, instead of correcting this despair, have preached from it.
They’ve built sermons around Solomon’s confusion, instead of rebuking it with the truth of Yahushua.
They’ve handed the Church cheap grace—grace without transformation, grace without repentance, grace without power.
“Because the sentence against an evil deed is not executed speedily, the heart of the children of man is fully set to do evil.”
— Ecclesiastes 8:11
Solomon saw lawlessness increase… and he folded into it.
He did not rise to prophesy.
He sank into passivity.
And this is exactly why Yahweh is raising forerunners again.
Enter the Wilderness Voice
The forerunner is the anti-Ecclesiastes.
Not a man caught in the fog, but one who speaks with fire, not vanity.
One who lives not under the sun, but under the fear of Yahweh.
The forerunner says:
“Repent, for the Kingdom is at hand!”
Not: “All is meaningless.”
The forerunner says:
“Make straight the way of Yahweh!”
Not: “There is nothing new under the sun.”
The forerunner doesn’t rationalize his sin—he calls it out.
He doesn’t mourn truth—he preaches it with joy.
He doesn’t get swallowed by the world—he prepares the way for the King to crush it.
Traits of the Forerunner Fire
1. Set-Apart From Birth
Solomon was born in royalty. But forerunners are born in fire.
“Before I formed you in the belly I knew you… I appointed you a prophet to nations.”
— Yirmeyahu (Jeremiah) 1:5
2. Not Trained By Man
Solomon was trained by kings. But forerunners are taught by the wilderness.
“I did not receive it from man, nor was I taught it, but through a revelation of Yahushua Messiah.”
— Galatiyim (Galatians) 1:12
3. Fearless in the Face of Power
Solomon made alliances with the world. Forerunners confront it.
“Is it you, O disturber of Yisra’ĕl?”
— 1 Melakim (1 Kings) 18:17
4. Uncompromising in Message
Qoheleth reasoned with folly. The forerunner rebukes it.
“Repent, for the reign of the heavens has drawn near!”
— Mattithyahu (Matthew) 3:2
5. Burns With Heaven’s Urgency
Solomon grew numb. The forerunner stays lit.
“Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?”
— Luke 3:7
ROOTED IN THE WORD
“The end of the matter, all has been heard. Fear Elohim and guard His commands, for this applies to all mankind!” — Ecclesiastes 12:13
“The wise man’s eyes are in his head, but the fool walks in darkness.” — Ecclesiastes 2:14
“The voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare the way of יהוה.” — Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 40:3
“For the Master יהוה does no matter unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.” — Amos 3:7
GRACE METHOD Reflection
G – Grounded in Scripture
Ecclesiastes 1–2, Isaiah 40, Matthew 3, Revelation 12
R – Reflecting on Context
Solomon once walked in Yahweh’s wisdom but traded it for idolatry and self-reflection. Forerunners rise to correct the drift—to preach truth where confusion has taken hold.
A – Applying to Your Life
Am I speaking truth or quoting confusion? Have I let the despair of the world shape my theology? Am I willing to burn with a pure message that corrects the voices of decay?
C – Communing with God
Yahweh, deliver me from the spoiled mind. Wash me from false conclusions and restore Your fire in my bones. Make me a voice of clarity—not confusion.
E – Exalting God
You alone are wise, Yahweh. You are not vain, but eternal. I exalt You for restoring the voice of truth in a generation gone numb.
PERSONAL DECLARATION
I renounce the voice of decay.
I reject the lie that wisdom is vanity.
I will not walk in the shadow of Solomon’s confusion.
I will be a voice of truth in the wilderness.
Yahweh, burn away the mixture. Yahushua, reign in me.
I will prepare the way. I will not be silent.
In Your Name, Amein.
