Yahushua is YHWH
The Claims: Yahushua Declares Himself to Be YHWH
Introduction
Yahushua was not misunderstood. Over and over, He spoke words and did works that only YHWH could claim. From the “I Am” statements in John to His declaration as the Alpha and Omega in Revelation, the testimony is clear: He revealed Himself as YHWH in the flesh.
The “I Am” Statements
These are not simple metaphors — Yahushua was invoking the divine name first revealed to Moses in Exodus 3:14: “I Am that I Am.”
John 6:35, 41, 48, 51 — “I Am the Bread of Life.”
John 8:12 — “I Am the Light of the World.”
John 8:24 — “Unless you believe that I Am, you will die in your sins.”
John 8:28 — “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I Am.”
John 8:58 — “Before Abraham was, I Am.”
John 10:7, 9 — “I Am the Door.”
John 10:11, 14 — “I Am the Good Shepherd.”
John 11:25 — “I Am the Resurrection and the Life.”
John 14:6 — “I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.”
John 15:1, 5 — “I Am the True Vine.”
John 18:5–6 — “I Am He.” (the soldiers fall backward).
Equality with the Father
John 5:18–23 — He makes Himself equal with God.
John 10:30–33 — “I and the Father are one.”
John 14:7–9 — “Whoever has seen Me has seen the Father.”
John 17:5 — “Glorify Me with the glory I had with You before the world existed.”
Authority Only YHWH Holds
Matthew 9:2–6; Mark 2:5–7; Luke 5:20–24 — Forgives sins.
Luke 7:48–49 — Forgives the woman’s sins.
John 5:21–22 — Claims the power to raise the dead and judge all people.
Matthew 25:31–46 — Judges the nations from His throne.
Matthew 12:8; Mark 2:28; Luke 6:5 — “The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”
Matthew 28:18 — “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.”
The Alpha and the Omega
In Revelation, Yahushua takes on the titles of eternity:
Revelation 1:8 — “I Am the Alpha and the Omega.”
Revelation 1:17–18 — “I Am the First and the Last, the Living One.”
Revelation 2:8 — “The First and the Last, who died and came to life.”
Revelation 22:12–13 — “I Am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.”
Revelation 22:16 — “I, Yahushua… I Am the Root and the Descendant of David, the Bright Morning Star.”
Conclusion
The evidence is overwhelming: Yahushua’s words echo the very promises and titles of YHWH. This is why His listeners often tried to stone Him, and why the religious leaders ultimately condemned Him. To deny His claims is to deny the testimony of the Gospels and Revelation themselves.
